The elasticity grade of the sofa cover elastic band: How to match the sofa requirements
The "elasticity" of an elastic band is not necessarily the stronger the better. Different types of sofas require elastic bands of different elasticity grades to achieve the best usage effect. The elasticity grade is usually measured by the "stretch ratio", which is the ratio of the stretched length to the original length, and the common range is between 1:1.5 and 1:3. For small single-seater sofas or simple-styled sofas, elastic bands with a stretch ratio of 1:1.5 to 1:2 are suitable. This type of sofa fabric has a small force-bearing area. Excessive stretching will instead make the fabric tight, and long-term use is prone to cause the seams to crack. Medium-strength elastic bands can keep the fabric hanging naturally while preventing it from slipping off. For medium-sized double sofas or styles with armrests, it is recommended to pair them with elastic bands of 1:2 to 1:2.5. The connection points between the armrests, backrests and seats of the sofa need elastic bands to provide sufficient tension so that the fabric can fit the turning points and prevent wrinkles from accumulating. The medium to high elasticity can balance tension and comfort, being both stable and not causing the fabric to feel tight. For large L-shaped sofas or curved sofas, high-elasticity bands with a stretching ratio of 1:2.5 to 1:3 are required. This type of sofa has a complex structure. The fabric needs to adapt to more angles of bending. The high-elasticity bands can flexibly stretch along the contour of the sofa to ensure that every corner fits closely. Especially for curved armrests or irregular edges, high-elasticity bands can prevent the fabric from having gaps due to insufficient pulling. When choosing, you can refer to the size and shape of the sofa: the more complex the structure and the larger the area, the more elastic bands with high elasticity are needed. Conversely, the elasticity grade can be appropriately reduced to prevent the fabric from being overly stretched and deformed.
